Elizabeth (Betsy) Hays, a Fresno State public relations instructor, has passed the Examination for Accreditation administered by the Public Relations Society of America.  In earning her accreditation, Hays joins a small but growing group of public relations professionals who have proven their expertise in the ethical practice of public relations.  There are about 5,000 accredited public relations professionals nationally.

Hays successfully passed a two-step accreditation process.  The first part included an oral interview on public relations competencies and a review of her work.  The second part was a rigorous examination testing her knowledge, skills and abilities in all areas of public relations, from history to crisis communications.

Hays now joins a group of valley professionals who have earned the distinction of using the "APR" (Accredited in Public Relations).  Hayes, along with all accredited professionals, is required to participate in ongoing public relations skill building in order to maintain her accreditation

Hays is a member of the Central California Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.  Members who served as accreditation coaches were Liz Hudson, APR, and Jill Marmolejo Wagner, APR chapter accreditation chair.
